Ray I was saddened to read of the passing of your dear Dad. Over the years he sharpened more skates for myself and my kids than I can remember. Always asked him “ how’s business “ and his standard response was “ just getting by “. I curled in the seniors/veterans league at Rossmere on Monday mornings and Norm and Frank Yahiro were always behind our sheet like a couple of coaches. Ray I know how proud he was of you taking over the business and maintaining the best sharpening facility in the City. On behalf of our entire family that of course includes Greg & Rob who you know Ray, may I wish you and your entire family our sincere condolences. We have the entire Unger family in our daily thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Ken Mitchell & Family - Posted by: Ken Mitchell & Family (Friend & Long Time Client) on: Jan 28, 2026

Bob, Trev, and Ray — my sincere condolences to you and your families. I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood at your home and to get to know your dad well. He was always welcoming and funny, and genuinely one of the nicest guys you could meet. I will always remember my time with Norm as my baseball and hockey coach, fishing guide, and through many other great memories. - Posted by: Scott Payne (Family Friend) on: Jan 28, 2026

Bruce and I send our deepest condolences to the Unger family. I spent a lot of time at the skate shop back in the day and have very fond memories of my chats with Norm which would last well past the time my skates were ready. He was such a kind man, always smiling. - Posted by: Lyndy Leaf (Friend of Bob and family) on: Jan 27, 2026

We were so very saddened to hear of Norms passing. My memories of "PAPPY" are many, from hundreds of rounds of golf at both Rossmere and Pine Ridge including our many trips to Grenelefe. Pappy would not concede anything on the golf course, his best line of all times was...Why don't you just putt that and see what happens. Norm's Skate Shop was my chance to visit in the winter, have a coffee and get my skates sharpened, He would always say Timmy I don't want to embarrass you by giving you a discount then chuckle. Thanks for the fond memories my friend!! - Posted by: Timmy & Lynda Riddoch (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2026

Uncle Norman was the only brother of our late father Nelson. Dad passed away in 1965 so Uncle Norman was especially dear to me. We would always get together for a quick hug and visit on my many trips to Wpg over the years. I spoke with Unc the week before he passed. As always he was in good spirits. You could visually see his beautiful smile through his voice. Love you Uncle Norman. You will be missed. Thankyou for a lifetime of wonderful memories. - Posted by: Terri McCarthy (Niece) on: Jan 24, 2026

Whether it was golf, curling, Melrose cc or fishing (never caught a fish) it wasn’t long before you heard someone yell “ Norm”. His warm humors personality made you want to be around him, because he made life feel just that much better. While we are saddened by his departure, l guarantee his friends are walking around with smiles on our faces remembering all the great memories, thankful that we we’re able to share a small part of his life. Our thoughts are with Trevor, Bob, Raymond and the rest of his family. Sincerely Neil and Gloria. - Posted by: NEIL PAYNE (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2026
